Pinney &
Game Ball Etiquette / Keeper Shirt Color Rule
Pinnies are worn by the home team if the
visiting team's jersey is the same color. - However, it would be a good
idea to bring pinnies to the away games... just incase.
Game Ball is to be provided by the home
team. - Always make sure you have a properly inflated game ball.
The
keeper 's shirt is to be a different color
as their game jersey, but not the same color as the visiting team's
jersey. A keeper's shirt, or a pinney can be used. |

Offside Rules:
Boys U10: There is no off sides (off
side rule is not enforced). However,
Cherry-picking is not allowed. (Cherry-picking is when a player
positions himself in front of the goal, or is noticeably in an off side
position).
Boys U12:
Off sides rule is enforced.
Girls Off
Side Rule: Off sides is enforced in all age groups.
If you're not sure what offside is, or if you're having
trouble understanding the rule,
Follow this link to a video on YouTube that shows
& explains the rule.

BOYS - Red Carded Player Follow up Procedure.
Any player
that is red carded is not only pulled from the game the day he is red
carded, but he is not allowed to play in the next game. Hopefully this
never happens, but if one of our players is red carded, the league's
procedure is:
You are to
provide our club's intramural rep the name & jersey number of the player
that received the red card. The intramural rep is then responsible to
call the the opposing coach of the next game and give them the name and
jersey number of the carded player so this coach can make sure the
carded player does not play in that game.
If a player of the team you are playing is red carded,
you
are to provide our club's intramural rep with the name and jersey number
of the player from the other team that received the red card. Our rep is
then to call the next games coach that the opposing team will be playing
to give them the carded players info.

Team Message Page :
If you would like to utilize a page on our website to
post team reminders or helpful tidbits throughout the season,
contact me (Phil) via email using the contact page email link. I will
create a page for your team that will be password protected so your
information is not public knowledge. You simply email me with the info you
would like posted, provide me with a user name & password that you can
give your parents, and I'll create the page. You can use this page to
post info such as who has snacks each week, or any type
of info you feel would be helpful to your parents. If you are familiar
with FTP, you can upload & maintain your own page if you like.

Below are a number of sites that are
helpful to you as coach, whether you are a beginner or have coached for some
time.
A great place to start is
Soccer Help. As they say, their “soccer
games are better than soccer drills because they are fun, maximize activity,
minimize lines, are easy to set up and teach players to play soccer. Coaches
will achieve more in less time.”
http://www.soccerhelp.com/
One of the most comprehensive pages I
found is DeCatur Sports Page Soccer Drills, that
includes an amazing array of articles, exercises and tips for the amateur coach
to the premier level. This guy also puts out a complete manual located at the
site of the North Alabama Soccer League.
http://www.nasl.com/drills/manuals.htm
A great introduction to coaching is the
Eastside Youth Soccer Association’s Introduction to
Coaching the U8-U10 Player. This author lays out the characteristics of
players at the various levels as well as details what to expect from the
players as a coach. Great tips for involving parents, clarifying your coaching
philosophy, etc.
http://www.eysa.org/EYSACoachingManual.htm
Flashdrills
is a bit more of a sophisticated site of youth soccer coaching drills. The
drills selected by the author are, in the words of the sponsor, “tried
and proven soccer coaching methods to develop and enable young soccer players to
reach their goals.

If you want to access a comprehensive
soccer manual, go to the SOCCER-COACH-L Basic Coaching
Manual. There you find many items of interest, whether you are an
experienced coach looking for new ideas or a brand new coach with no idea where
to start.

Another overwhelming site is
Dynamsoccer,Org, which includes – among an array
of other resources – the very well known Jeff Pill's
Online Drills. This includes information on practice sessions, drills
and tactics by age level.
http://www.dynamosoccer.org/coachingresouces.htm
http://www.eteamz.com/soccer/pills/jpill.htm
I must include the most overwhelming
compilation of soccer information ever to hit the internet.
Football Training is
a part of the Virtual Library of Sport - the one-stop shop for quality sports
resources on the internet. Resources are constantly updated, mostly by our
visitors and volunteer librarians. Happy surfing…

Finally, if you are really curious and
ambitious, here are a few more to keep you busy…
Check out How to
coach youth soccer for the heck of it!

I like some of the drills at
Y-Coach!
